The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia’s leading not-for-profit organisation funding world-class breast cancer research. Since their inception in 1994, NBCF have invested around $200M into more than 600 world­ class research projects across Australia.

In the lead up to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, on the 27th of September 2023, we welcomed The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) on their vision of Zero Death from breast cancer by 2030.

At NBCF, we’re determined to create a better tomorrow. We know research matters, and it is central and critical to improving breast cancer outcomes.

What does the National Breast Cancer Foundation do? 

Breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer among Australians including men. It is a disease commonly diagnosed in females but for around 20,000 women and 200 men, breast cancer is a burden they have to face in Australia every year.

What are the impacts of the funds raised for National Breast Cancer Foundation through the i=Change platform? 

Every dollar goes towards world class medical research.

• $463,000 could go towards one whole research project for up to three years which could potentially develop the next revolutionary drug that we against hard to treat breast cancer.
• It could give insights into making the immune system more useful against breast cancer in the body.
• It could be used to find that next high level breast cancer risk gene that will give a patient who’s got a family history of breast cancer, resolve and understanding as well as how to manage their risk in the future.
