Sharon
is receiving the help she needs
The Foodbank Hunger Report 2023 revealed that 3.7 million households experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months. That’s 36% of Australian households and more than all the households of Sydney and Melbourne combined. This means, at the very least, they are reducing the quality, variety or desirability of their food and at worst, their eating patterns are disrupted.
Foodbank Australia’s ‘Feed Aussies in crisis‘ project on our platform means every $1 donated by businesses provides two meals. This allows them to support communities across the country that are severely affected by increased cost-of-living expenses, natural disasters of growing frequency and intensity and the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.
The impacts of that for Sharon are felt deeply, read her story…Â
I am a mature-age student from overseas. I have been suffering since I fled my abusive husband. I have depression and have no family support. I will never forget the date when I went to Foodbank for the first time.
Sharon was stoked about how friendly the staff were and I burst into tears many times when I was on my way home after shopping there.
“I feel so grateful for being able to access Foodbank. Foodbank and the lovely staff are my lifesavers”
