Maiah
is learning to walk again
“I will not go back. It is not safe. I wish I could. I want to go back to our farm, and work on the land”.
In 2021, the Myanmar military launched an offensive against a fledgling pro-democracy movement in Myanmar. Enormous brutality followed. It is believed more than 5,600 civilians have been killed since February 2021.
Maiah (not her real name) was injured when her village was attacked. Schrapnel from a bomb hit her hip. After two months at the Mae Tao Clinic, she is recovering and learning to walk again.
